APPLE VARIETIES: We sell the following varieties of apple inside our sales barn and we can also ship to customers nationwide. Please give us a call to place your order.
Gravenstein: Moderately tart, tender, juicy. Great for applesauce, eating, or cooking. When cooked, it loses shape but retains its flavor. Shelf life is about 1 to 2 months. Available August
Macintosh: Very old variety. Red and green. Tart, tender, juicy. Great for eating or cooking. When cooked, loses shape but retains its flavor. Shelf life 1 to 2 months. Available August
Honey Crisp: Cross between a Macoun and Honeygold. Large, crisp, juicy eating apple. Available August
Pinova: Bright pinkish/red blush over yellow. Firm, medium size. Good for eating and cooking. Has a good balance of sugar/acid. Available September
Royal Gala: Early harvest dessert apple. Orange and yellow with red blush. Sweet, sort of crisp. Great for snacks, salads, lunchboxes. NOT a cooking apple. Available September
Winter Banana: Hard, tangy, dry. Yellowish with a red blush. Makes a good "cannable" applesauce: To 10 lbs of apples, just add a cup of water and sugar and a little cinnamon. Available September
Golden Delicious: Sunny yellow, sweet, juicy. Great for pies, eating, drying, applesauce, and apple butter. Keeps well for 3+ months. Available September
Red Delicious: Striped to solid red. Crisp, sweet and great for eating and lunchboxes. NOT a cooking apple. Keeps well for 3 months. Available September
Newton Pippin: Green with a distinct mottled collar. Tart, crisp, juicy. Great for pies, sauce, juicing and eating. When cooked, retains its flavor and shape. Shelf life in a cool spot is 5+ months. Available September
Winesap: Deep purple-red. Semi-tart, juicy, firm with wine-like flavor. Great for eating and cooking. Keeps well for months. Available October
Braeburn: Yellow with red highlights. Hard, crisp, sweet yet tart. Great for eating and in salads. Originated in New Zealand. Available October
Mutsu: Originated in Japan, crossed between a Golden Delicious and Indo apple. Very crisp and versatile. Great dessert and cooking apple. Light green to yellowish when matured. Available October
Fuji: Greenish yellow with a red blush. Crisp, juicy, sweet. Great for eating and in salads. When cooked, loses flavor. Keeps well for months. Available October (Early Fuji, available August)
Prime Gold: Yellow with a red blush. Juicy, sweet, and tangy. It is a cross between a Pippin and a Golden Delicious. Keeps well for 3 months. Available October
Black Twig: Firm, tart apple, good cooker. Small to medium size. Deep red striped. Available November
Granny Smith: Shiny green, crisp apple. Good for baking and sauce. Will keep all winter if stored properly. Available November
